In Spring of 2015, my fiancé (now husband) took a wonderful three week trip to London, Paris, Venice & Rome. During our travels we enjoyed some of the most fabulous food on earth and the massive amounts of walking we did cancelled out all the calories consumed (win-win)….
In London I was kind of expecting not to be blown away by the food but was pleasantly surprised by the creativity and variety. After we checked into our hotel in Bayswater and went across the street to a little pub for lunch. I had a sandwich of goat cheese, pesto and caramelized onions…which was a good start 🙂 As customary, we dined on Fish & Chips which we thoroughly enjoyed but wanted to branch out and try other cuisines. We had breakfast at Jamie Oliver’s Recipease in Notting Hill which has since closed. They had a fabulous breakfast of toasted ciabatta bread covered with mushrooms cooked in cream in saffron…it was the things dreams are made of…
For my birthday we had a marvelous tea at Fortnum and Mason which is prepared and presented with the intention of making you feel like royalty…which I welcomed. Our server was the biggest sweetheart. She helped me pick my tea from the massive choices that were available. Our tea also included a three-tier display of sandwiches, tarts and other goodies for each of us and was topped off with a slice of chocolate cake.
We left for Paris the next morning at the crack of dawn and I had one food on my mind…macarons.
